According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Canada has officially secured their spot in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, which India and Sri Lanka will co-host. The confirmation came after Canada claimed a strong win over the Bahamas in the Americas Qualifier. Canada ended their season with five victories in five games after this triumph.
In their most recent game, Canadian bowlers Kaleem Sana and Shivam Sharma each took three wickets, helping to bowl out the Bahamas for only 57 runs. The chase was short and easy, as Dilpreet Bajwa scored an unbeaten 36 from just 14 deliveries. In just 5.3 overs, Canada reached the target, sealing their spot for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026
Led by Nicholas Kirton, Canada entered the qualifiers as one of the favourites, especially after taking part in the 2024 T20 World Cup held in the USA and West Indies. They started their qualification journey with a huge 110-run win over Bermuda. Following that, they won their last match against the Bahamas by 10 wickets and defeated the Cayman Islands by 59 runs.
In a second match against the Cayman Islands—cut short to just five overs per side—Canada scored 82 runs and won by 42 runs. Their consistent performance across all matches showed their dominance in the tournament.
With this qualification, Canada becomes one of the 20 teams that will compete in the 2026 T20 World Cup. They join co-hosts India and Sri Lanka, along with other qualified nations: Australia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the West Indies, the United States, Ireland, New Zealand, and Pakistan.
Seven more teams will join through upcoming regional qualifiers. These include two from Europe (July 2025), two from Africa (September–October 2025), and three from Asia-Pacific (October 2025).
